Every Quote, Decomposed
Every dealer started with roughly the same car at roughly the same MSRP ($64,500–$65,485). What they did next tells the real story. The chart below shows what each dealer added or subtracted from their sticker price. Green means they discounted. Orange and yellow mean they piled on add-ons and doc fees.
Best Dealer Behavior
-$12,058 vs MSRP
Morrie's Auto Group
$12,508 discount, $100 in add-ons, $350 doc fee
Worst Dealer Behavior
-$2,802 vs MSRP
Casa Ford of Las Cruces — NM
$3,000 discount, $198 in add-ons
Morrie's Auto Group discounted $12,508 below MSRP, added $100 in accessories, and charged a $350 doc fee. Net: $12,058 below MSRP.
Casa Ford of Las Cruces (NM) discounted $3,000 off selling price but added $198 in add-on products. Net: -$2,802 above MSRP.
That’s a $9,256 swing — entirely based on which dealer you contacted, for the exact same car.

Discount Analysis
The Discount Game
Ford dealers discount aggressively off MSRP — we saw discounts up to $13,240 off sticker. But big discounts don't always mean good deals. Taxes, fees, and add-ons can eat those savings whole.

MSRP minus OTD
3 quotes advertised a discount off MSRP, but the final out-the-door price was still at or above sticker. Big markdowns mean nothing when add-ons and fees eat the savings.
31 quotes included rebates (avg $2,384). Watch out for rebate stacking — you often can't combine rebates with 0% financing. The “discount” may not apply to your situation.
The Waterfall: Where the Money Goes
Each card shows how the price transforms from MSRP to out-the-door. Green means money in your pocket. Red means it's leaving.

Fee Analysis
The Fee Trap (Ford Edition)
Ford dealers discount aggressively off MSRP. But the fees and add-ons eat into those savings.
9 out of 38 quotes (24%) included dealer add-on products — extras you never asked for, quietly baked into the price.

The 10 most common add-on categories across 14 line items. Most are negotiable or removable.
Tip: Most add-ons are negotiable. Ask the dealer to remove or reduce these before signing.

The Tactics We Saw
These patterns appeared repeatedly across dealer quotes.
Big discounts that hide mandatory add-on packages
Rebates you may not qualify for baked into the price
0% financing vs. rebate — you can’t have both
“Call for price” instead of quoting over text
Protection packages bundled as “standard”
To be fair:
A small number of dealers were shockingly honest. Clear pricing. No games. No pressure. They do exist — they're just hard to find. Traditional car search websites don't highlight these dealers because they reward dealers with “best deal” badges based on ad spend, not actual pricing.
The Bottom Line
Whether you’re buying an F-150 or any other vehicle, the data is clear: the sticker price is just the starting point. Ford dealers discount more than Toyota — but they also add more fees.
Ford discounts are real — but so are the strings
We saw discounts up to $13,000 off MSRP. But many came with rebate requirements, financing conditions, or mandatory add-on packages that clawed back the savings.
The OTD spread was massive
A $13,871 range on the same XLT trim. The cheapest OTD was $53,402. The most expensive was $67,273. That’s a 26% difference.
Always get the full OTD breakdown
A $12,000 discount means nothing if doc fees, add-ons, and taxes push the total back up. Ask for the line-by-line OTD — not just the “discounted price.”

Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I pay for a 2025 Ford F-150 XLT?
Based on 38 verified dealer quotes, the median out-the-door price for a 2025 Ford F-150 XLT is $60,699. Prices ranged from $53,402 to $67,273. Where you buy matters enormously -- the same car from a different dealer can cost thousands more or less.
What are typical dealer add-ons on a Ford F-150?
In our study, 24% of Ford dealers added extras to their quote, ranging from $89 to $2,396 in add-on charges. Common add-ons include protection packages, window tint, floor mats, and appearance coatings. Many of these are negotiable or removable if you push back.
How much can you negotiate off a Ford F-150?
The out-the-door price spread across 38 quotes was $13,871. That means the difference between the best and worst deal on the exact same car was substantial. Negotiating over email or text is the most effective approach -- it creates a paper trail, removes high-pressure tactics, and lets you compare offers side by side.
What is a fair doc fee for a Ford dealer?
Among the dealers that charged a doc fee, we saw a range from $85 to $899. Doc fees are set by the dealer and are rarely negotiable, but they vary dramatically. A high doc fee does not necessarily mean a bad deal -- look at the full out-the-door number instead.
